Pack up that gym bag, and break out the workout shoes because there is a new fitness facility in Fitchburg with the opening of a Gold's Gym on July 20.
The 45,000-square-foot, $9 million facility at 2920 Hard Rock Road already employs nearly 60. General manager Michael Benso said there could be a total of 80 employees by the start of August.
Benso said that despite not being a 24-hour facility, like some others in the area, Gold's Gym differentiates itself by service and the wide range of facilities, including a swimming pool, basketball court, more equipment, a kids center and services such as massage therapy, physical therapy and chiropractic services.
"We want to make sure we take care of our customers ... service is key," Benso said. "We take care of our customers and they are our No. 1 priority."
Some of the highlights of the facility include a 12-foot waterfall, executive locker rooms, a childcare center, to a smoothie café.
Every customer will be greeted with a smile and asked how they may be helped, Benso said. He also noted that a fitness counselor will talk to each person about their goals and how Gold's can help them achieve those goals.
There is also a cardio theater with elipticals, bikes, and treadmills; weight machines and free weights, personal training and classes such as cycling, yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and Body Pump.
There will be around 20 different types of classes and a total of 80 classes per week.
Aside from great customer service, Benso said that a clean facility and clean locker rooms is key. "Cleanliness is a huge deal for the customers and for us," he said.
Benso said Gold's Gym opened in Fitchburg because "Madison is a highly fitness based community" and there was a need for more fitness facilities in the area, with the Fitchburg location ideal because of major roadways and visibility.
There are plans to open three more locations in the Madison area over the next two years.
Gold's Gym will be open from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday - Friday and 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. on weekends.
