Residents will have a chance to way in on the draft Comprehensive Park, Open Space and Recreation Plan 2010-2015 at an open house on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at the Fitchburg Community Center.
The open house will take place from 6 - 8 p.m. on Oct. 27 in the Oak Hill Room of the community center, with a short presentation starting at 6:30 p.m. followed by a question/comments session.
The Fitchburg Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department and Park Commission are working on updating its park and open space plan, which was last approved in 2000. The finalized plan will set forth goals, objectives, and polices for developing and improving Fitchburg's park and open space system and protecting the City's valued resources.
The plan also provides short-term (5 years) and long-term recommendations for achieving these goals. Having an up-to-date plan is necessary for a city to be eligible for county, state, and federal grants, according to the City's Web site.
Attendees will have the opportunity to view the draft plan and various displays, as well as submit responses to a question/comment form. The City is asking for any feedback regarding the plan or issues related to park and open space.
